Theme Installation & Activation

- Download the theme zip file
- Go to XOOPS Admin > Appearance > Themes
- Click “Upload” and select the zip file
- The theme appears in the theme list
- Click to activate it for your site
Alternative: Extract manually into /themes/ directory and refresh admin panel.
Q: Theme upload fails with “Permission denied”

- Select preferred theme in “User Theme” dropdown
- Save
User-selected themes override the default site theme.
Q: Can I have different themes for admin and user sites?
Section titled “Q: Can I have different themes for admin and user sites?”A: Yes, set in XOOPS Admin > Settings:
- Frontend theme - Default site theme
- Admin theme - Admin control panel theme (usually separate)
Look for settings like:
